Child Safety Standards
Last updated 28 October 2026
Rituals has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards apply to everyone who uses Rituals: guests, hosts and businesses.
What is prohibited
Using Rituals in any way that sexualises, exploits, endangers or abuses a child (anyone under 18) is prohibited. That includes:
- creating, sharing, requesting or linking to CSAM, in any form, including drawn, animated or AI-generated material;
- grooming: contacting or befriending a child, or someone you believe is a child, with the aim of sexual contact or exploitation;
- sextortion, trafficking, or arranging to meet a child for any sexual purpose;
- sexualised comments about children, and photos of children in profiles, chats or crew photos.
Rituals is for adults
- Everyone must be 18 or older. People confirm their date of birth when they set up their profile, and we refuse anyone under 18.
- The app is rated 18+ in both stores.
- Profile photos must show the account holder; photos of children are not allowed and are removed.
- There is no public feed of people, no messaging with strangers, and no way to message someone outside a session's crew chat until both people choose to connect after attending the same session.
- Selfie checks compare the person with their profile photos. If we have reason to believe an account belongs to a minor, we suspend it while we check and close it if so.
How to report
- In the app: report a person from their profile, any message from the chat (long-press it), after a session, or a crew photo. Choose the closest reason and say in the details that it concerns a child; our team reviews those reports first.
- By email: hello@rituals.team with the subject "Child safety". You do not need an account to report.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call the local emergency number (112 in the EU) or the police first.
What we do
- We remove CSAM and related content as soon as we know about it, and suspend the accounts involved straight away.
- We preserve what is needed as evidence and report CSAM and child exploitation to the competent authorities: in Portugal the Polícia Judiciária, and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, as well as other authorities where the law requires.
- We permanently ban the accounts, and the phones they were used on, of anyone who shares CSAM or tries to exploit a child, and we do not restore them on appeal.
- We cooperate with law enforcement requests made under the applicable law.
Compliance
Rituals complies with the child safety laws that apply to it, including the EU rules on combating child sexual abuse and the Digital Services Act, and with the Google Play and Apple App Store policies on child safety.
